The Mendo Hiker

is a page devoted to the protection of all unprotected wilderness lands in all of California that still qualify as roadless and undisturbed areas.

It is also about

extending some measure of protection to some of our wild and scenic rivers that have not yet received any consideration for their beauty and unspoiled condition.

There is also

a regional focus here especially on those lands in and around Mendocino County. But we actually see ourselves as an important part of the larger EcoRegion here on The North Coast of California.

My particular focus

is mainly on the Yuki and the areas known as the Yolla Bolly additions which are backed up and extend into Mendocino National Forest.

Towards these ends

we hold these hikes and other events in order to educate the public about these lands which need to be protected.

And the best way

to do that is to take people out there and show them what we've got that needs to be protected. If people don't know about it they don't care about it.
